Alright – is it just me, or does time seem to go by faster each year? I am having a hard time fathoming that we are already amid soup season. Now, I will be the first to admit that fall is not my favorite season, but to be honest your girl loves some soup. So, I suppose I will let summer go… for now. 😉
To fully embrace fall in her true colors, a few of my friends and I decided to plan a getaway to the mountains. Let me tell you, there’s truly no better place to sip cider and watch the leaves turn colors; than in the heart of Breckenridge, CO. Let’s get into the details.
How To Get There:
Breckenridge (like many ski towns) is a solid 2 hour drive from the Denver airport. I highly recommend renting a car. Not only is it more cost effective in the grand scheme of things, but it’s also handy to have the ability to drive and visit any lookout or destination within the area.
Where We Stayed:
We were so impressed with our Airbnb stay at Royal Tiger Chalet from start to finish. The location was ideal, with a 15-minute walk to town, or a 2-minute walk to the bus stop. The most important part of any trip, (IMO) is location, location, location. Uber fees, parking tickets, and gas can all add up when venturing out, so this was a major plus. My favorite part about our Airbnb was the amenities. There was nothing better than curling up by the indoor fireplace or chillin’ in the hot tub with a big ole’ glass of wine after a day exploring the town. The outdoor firepit was great for roasting s’mores too; no wood needed! If you’re dreaming of visiting Breckenridge (like me), I will link our stay Here.
Where We Ate:
Ahhh where to begin! Even though we were only in Breckenridge for 48 hours, we made sure to make the most of our time. We found several hidden gems, each with their own claim to fame.
Who would have guessed that downtown Breckenridge would have their own winery? With the yummiest snacks and charcuterie boards to boot!
Their name says it all. The most unique Spanish influenced dishes and tapas. It’s like traveling to Spain and back with one bite! The space is cozy, and the staff is absolutely amazing at making you feel at home. I really enjoyed the specialty crafted drinks as well. Mimo Fancy Tapas comes highly recommend from me!
I have now visited the Canteen both times while in Breck, and I can confidently say I will be back. They have a great selection of dishes and drinks – something for everyone!
Where To See The Best Views
Peak 8
Sawmill Museum (we didn’t participate in the museum, but the vibes are so cool!)
Baker’s Tank
What to Wear:
We visited during early October and had the most beautiful weather. It was chilly in the morning (35 degrees), and by mid-day had warmed up to a crisp 70 degrees. I highly recommend packing layers regardless of your plans while visiting. See pictures below for inspo!
If you’re looking for a weekend trip in the mountains, I cannot recommend Breck enough! Between the views, the food, and the hospitality, you will be sure to leave with a warm heart and fully tummy.
Happy Fall, Y’all!
